Born in 1951 in Trabzon, the artist graduated from the Fine Arts Faculty of Gazi University in 1977. Artists who developed the modern Art of Turkey, were his tutors. He reached this day with over 20 years of teaching and painting. Taking nature as the source for his works, the artist builds up his works in geometrical forms and shapes, finding different structures in nature according to himself.

Light is the main concept in his works; instead of the visuality in his paintings he brings forth his own visuality.Adil Ocak says that: "A side from all the visual imitations, meaning the existing visuality, I'm trying to find the visuality that 'should' exist according to me. With geometrical plan and subjects 1 focus on esthetical values.
On my canvas, 1 play games of light and shade; which also forms my view on life and the philosophy of my paintings. Light not only forms the main concept of my painings, but also helps me build the bridge of love between me and the spectators."
The artist mostly reflects scenes from Karadeniz, where he was born, and Ege, where he spent his summers, in a lyrical and pastoral expression on the canvas.
Continuing on with his studies in his own studio, he was participated in many mixed exhibitions. His works have taken place in private collections in his own country and abroad, mainly US and France. |
